As the middle of 2014 nears, it’s impressive that club music has finally emerged from the streets of Baltimore, and now tours around the world and influences the universe. Chicago-to-New York success story Brenmar–one of club’s most globally renowned practitioners–released High End Times, Vol. 1 on February 18 of this year to significant acclaim. Now, on June 3, an all-star remix EP featuring fellow club (and club-influenced) practitioners Matic, Uniiqu3, DJ Tiga, and more get in on the fun with the release of the High End Times Remix EP. Today, a remix from LA-based club crusher Falcons sees the light of day for free download. As per expectation, it’s a shimmering and flossy affair, this remix in particular erring on the side of a sound that can best be referred to as “ambient thump.” Five years have passed since club music’s last massive push to mainstream prominence, and with this EP, it would appear as if those inspired by predecessors who never left the club could be in line for major dividends.
