If looking for EDM’s most inspiring story of 2014, consider the idea that if a mainstream pop/dance music observer in January of this year, the only name you knew when it came to the matter of Jersey club music was DJ Sliink. Moreover, that awareness was likely due to his collaboration with Flosstradamus on “Crowd Control.” Now, fast forward seven months and Sliink’s a solid touring draw, Nadus’ Pelican Fly debut EP has cemented him as a star on the rise in both domestic and foreign markets, R3ll’s remixing Lido, and then there’s UNiiQU3 dropping a free remix of Calvin Harris’ appropriately title top-40 big room jam “Summer” and playing the MoMA PS1 Warm Up event on July 26 with Cashmere Cat, rapper Goldlink, Total Freedom and a plethora of other announced acts.
