While many soccer pundits may be unsure of the United States squad’s chances at taking home the championship trophy, Diplo’s still bringing a World Cup-themed mix to MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 program this coming Thursday, June 12. To give fans an idea of what the hour-long mix would sound like, he dropped a SoundCloud preview in which he promised “Brazilian” sounds, as well as sports anthems and dancehall edits. At the root of Mad Decent’s global rise there’s certainly a connection to Brazil be it Diplo’s early era production of poppy baile funk group Bonde do Role, or his role as a director of groundbreaking documentary film Favela on Blast. Given the label (and Diplo’s) love of Brazil, this should be an intriguing and must-listen mix.
