If you’ve played a Boiler Room set with Ta-Ku and toured a bit with XXYYXX, you’re probably off to a decent start to your career. Australia’s Leon Osborn has done each of those things and this week he put out a new original that I’m really feeling. “Vinson Massif” is an interesting number because while it starts with some more airy, jazzy feels, it morphs into a heavier if not throbbing kind of cut with frenetic footwork-esque hats with a thumping stepping rhythm. And despite the in-track changes, it still keeps that jazzy, ethereal essence to it that makes it work. Now consider the tune is named after the highest mountain in Antarctica and the textures on this will really come alive. This tune isn’t available for download but if you like it, keep an eye out for more from Mr. Osborn as he’s uploading new tunes every Tuesday this month and I’m sure they’ll be just as good.
